La Ferme du Gravier is set in the middle of sheep rearing country; produced for meat, and to make the famous "cabecou" cheese.  Our nearest neighbour has fields surrounding our house, and throughout the year, there is always something to see.....new lambs, shearing time, returning to the fields from winter barns........

Not long after we bought the house, our neighbour turned up with a very bedraggled specimen of a lamb; the mother had no milk and it was too poorly for a busy farmer to try and coax to feed several times a day.  Our daughter gladly took on the role of surrogate mother and now Mary is a big, sturdy lamb, who joins us on walks......she would follow us to school if allowed!

Every farm has to have a dog, and ours is a cocker spaniel called Delilah.....she is now a year old, has one blue and one brown eye; she has recently been joined by Bessie, a puppy with attitude!

Jezebel the goat came to us from the Animal Park nearby; she was on her way to the abbatoir as she is rather an old goat who doesn't produce milk anymore....but we don't mind that.

Unfortunately, we woke one morning to discover a fox had eaten our chickens!  we have since devised a cunning plan to foil the fox from more chicken dinners, and bought four young ladies who seem to be settling well.  Their new beau arrives shortly so hopefully we can look forward to our own eggs again...........
